County Fair

At the beginning of August, I looked thru my stash to take some things to the County Fair. In the Home Arts division, we have categories for "stationery/notecards" and "greeting cards" that require three items. You may enter twice in each category. The photos you see below are the entries I submitted and the ribbons I received. It's always interesting to me to see how they're judged and what the judge likes/dislikes--it's not necessarily what *I* know took the most time and/or skill. (BTW, the judges are usually painters, etc.).

I also submitted in the "folded/shaped" category, but don't have good pix of those. In the "misc." category I submitted some jewelry and the second muffin tin in this photo.

All stamps and papers in the photos below are from The Angel Company, though some of the stamps are retired.

New Stamp Image Blog Hop

This month's Angel Blog Hop is for NEW STAMPS from the Inspiration Book that went live in June. The Angel Company Catalogue isn't just a regular catalog, it's truly a great source of INSPIRATION.

Both of these cards use images from Summer Boys. I colored them with Prismacolor Pencils and oderless mineral spirits, using a blending stump. I used Hip Hop paper on the top card because I wanted to use that frog!

The bottom card has two other stamps added--the sentiment is from Ordinary Greetings and the baseball stitching is from Running Stitches. The joy of unmounted stamps is that I could curve the stitch stamp to get the look I wanted! I used a Sanding Block on the DCWV paper to give it that worn look--wanted to help you feel a nice, worn-out baseball glove in your hand. A little Cognac Palette ink helps the baseball look dirty. ;-)

Surprise Box!

Another Class Card (X3)

Here's another card we did at that large class I had a week ago. (see this post) The idea for the yellow one came first from fellow Angel Mary's set. I liked the bright colors and cheeriness. I adapted it to create the others similar, yet different so I could use different supplies at each table.

All three of these use the same two stamp sets: Wishing Happiness and Enjoy Nature. All use a circle punch, either Scallop or Cloud Scissors, and a Kaleidacolor pad (Bouquet, Berry Blaze and Spectrum).

Class Card--Skinny Birds

In case you haven't figured it out yet, I'm LOVIN' this new Skinny Birds stamp set. It's just so versatile!

Here are three cards we did at my class on Thursday evening. I had a large group (15) and had each table of ladies do the same concept for cards, but they used different images/colors/inks. Each table colored with a different medium as well--one table used Aquacrayons, one used Watercolor Pencils, and the third used Prismacolor Pencils with odorless mineral spirits.

This first set of cards allowed the ladies to play with the Scor-Pal and awesome little Scor-Bug tool. What fun! It's hard to tell, but each group got to add the finishing touch of Stickles too. ;-)

Super Simple Birthday card

Sometimes plain and simple is good. The Angel Company calls it "Simple. Smart. Sophisticated." I took that approach on this card using Friendship Stamps and our 8x8 Scalloped Stack. To color it, I used Prismacolor Pencils and oderless mineral spirits. I added Crystal Lacquer for a fun but simple and subtle touch. This card isn't my favorite, but I'm not sure why I'm not a big fan. Oh well, here it is...

Watercolor Plants

For this card I used TAC's new Watercolor Plants stamps with our Aquacolor Crayons. I colored directly on the stamp, using several shades (so they'd blend), then spritzed lightly with water. I stamped several times so that some flowers would stand out more than others. For the grass I sponged with Landscape and Jardin Moss inks, and for the sky I sponged Seascape ink. The cloud effect comes from masking a bit with a scrap cut using Cloud Scissors.
