Final Stamp-a-Stack Card

This final card offered a fun technique as well as a different coloring medium. Again, I based my card off someone else's, and you can see Lori's card at the bottom of the post.

Both images and sentiment come from Hoppity Skippity. The paper is DCWV brights as well as Tutti Frutti and white ultrasmooth. On the pink panel I used stamps from Awesome Blossoms to stamp in Versamark. Then I sanded, causing them to "appear!" It's fun to watch people do this technique as they doubt it will work, then it suddenly looks good! ;-)

We colored with Aquacrayons and a Dove Blender and used the beloved Gray Tombow Marker too. Ink is Noir, and ribbon is misc.

SAS Sample #3

Again, I tried to vary the "feel" of this card from the rest. It was also a simple and FAST one to do 4 times!

It's impossible to tell in this photo, but the black cardstock is embossed using the Flowers Impressabilities. The white shape was cut using Nestabilities Labels 4, but it's not embossed. To keep things moving the day of the SAS and prevent a "log jam" at the Wizard, I did all the embossing and cutting ahead of time. I figured cutting the white was time-consuming enough with out embossing too! ;-)

The stamps are Hostess Level A Swirled Spring Life and Tag Tidbits. (Inside we used Bless Your Heart.) Papers are Yellows Bazzill Mono pack, and cardstocks are black and white ultrasmooth. We used the Scor-Bug on the Scor-Pal to achieve the texture on the yellow strip. The bee is colored with Tombow markers. Ink was Palette Noir. We used misc. ribbon.

I can't take full credit for the idea, as I CASEd it from a thank you card I got from Kim. Hers was a mini card, so I adapted it to make it A2. Below you can see Kim's version.

Our new embellishment--Button!

Meet our new dog Button! We just added this new embellishment to the family a few hours ago (from the Humane Society). Is this a face to fall in love with or what?!?!?!? And he's soooo sweet!

We met him yesterday, and went in this morning to finalize everything. Isn't he adorable?!?!?

He turns 1 yr. old in about 2 weeks.

In case you're wondering...he and Oscar (or other dog) get along just fine. They pretty much ignore each other. That's Oscar's typical MO, and this dog grew up with 2 others in the same household. They each kept taking turns at each other's food and water bowls. I think they're going to argue less than my 2 girls!!! :-)

Here's the cute nose that helped us come up with his name. We debated for about 24 hours before we had something the whole family liked.

SAS Sample #2

When I do an event with several cards, I usually try to vary the style (vintage, cutesy, classic, etc.) and the color palettes (neutrals, brights, primary, pastels, etc.). The card below has a very different look and feel from the one in the previous post!


Since it was an event where everyone did 4 of each card, I kept the coloring minimal. Instead of coloring the entire cat, I just used the gray Tombow to outline him (her?). Of course, I had to add Stickles too!

Because of the two eyelets so close to the edge, it would have been difficult to adhere the front panel flat. Solution? Pop dots for the entire card front!

The stamp sets are Cupcake Cuties, Running Stitches and Circle Sampler (sentiments inside varied). The paper was Miss Moxie SWIC and Cardstock, and white ultrasmooth. Inks are Palettes in Noir, and L'Amore Red. I also used a button from Elizabeth Blossoms and Blooms, Pop Dots, Clever Lever Circle Punch, Toodle Loo eyelets, Stickles, and WaterColor Pencils with a Dove Blender.

Spring Stamp-a-Stack Samples

Over the next few days, I'll be showing you the 4 cards we made at my Stamp-a-Stack on Sat., March 6.

This first one is CASEd from a card I saw here. I already had the old hymnal from 1913--something I'd bought at an antique store with a different project in mind (still haven't done that other one yet!). When I saw her card, I KNEW the hymnal I had would be perfect.

The stamp sets are Aged Ornaments and Savvy Sayings. The paper is Amberley Grace, kraft and ivory ultrasmooth. The inks are Burnt Umber and Versamark Champagne Dazzle (hard to see the sparkle in the photos). I sponged the edges with a hydrasponge, and used my Corner Chomper on the 1/2" setting for the corners. The Cloud Scissors gave a nice scalloped edge. It's tough to see, but the button is tied with brown Scrapper's Floss.

Cupcake Cuties

Isn't this little girl from "Cupcake Cuties" just the cutest? I'm not always into "cutesy," but I'm really getting into coloring these little girls lately--not sure why! I think it's because the Prismacolor pencils and oderless mineral spirits make me feel lik I really know what I'm doing. ;-)

I colored this one Friday evening while I helped my 11-yr-old daughter and her friend create with my supplies. The friend was spending the night, so I let them splurge and use my stuff (under my watchful eye!). I sat and colored this with colors my daughter suggested. Don't know what I'll do with her yet...Hmmm...what should I make?!?!?

Interactive Cards #4

This swing away card is fun and easy! I followed the tutorial that Vicki posted on Paper Wings.

Here's a close-up so you can see the effect of the Gelly Glaze pens. Again, going with the idea that we wanted to focus on the technique in class instead of the finer details of the card, this allowed for a quick/easy way to color and not take too much time with the coloring.
